Real estate is a long-term investment, and homeowners in the 160-townhouse community in Boatworks, Bayonne, are beginning to realize the benefits of holding their investments until there is a shift in the market.

In late 2004, the first set of townhouses were sold in the waterfront community, and shortly after, owners had their share of market uncertainty. Buying for unusually high prices of the 2005-2006 period, plummeting real estate values when the bubble burst in 2008, and hurricane Sandy in 2012, homeowners who weathered the storm are realizing the equity they only once dreamt of.
